  • Did you know that this week is window safety week? It’s something most of us don't think about but windows, if not maintained can be a major safety issue. First full week in April recognized as Window Safety Week Recognizing the essential role windows play in the lives of consumers today, the Window Safety Task Force in partnership with the National Safety Council proudly observes Window Safety Week each year during the first full week in April. Our goal is to encourage parents and caregivers to take steps to observe window safety throughout the year. Window Safety and Fall Prevention Tips The Window Safety Task Force offers these tips to protect children from window falls: • Avoid the placement of furniture near windows to prevent children from climbing • Do not rely on insect screens to prevent a window fall • Keep children’s play away from open windows and doors • Install building code-compliant devices designed to limit how far a window will open or window guards with release mechanisms to help prevent a fall • Teach your child how to safely use a window to escape during an emergency

  • April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month. It's no secret that driving distracted leads to many motor vehicle crashes. Distracted Driving is anything that takes your attention away from the road. Sending a text message, browsing websites looking for deals, talking on a cell phone, using a navigation system, and eating while driving are a few examples of distracted driving. Any of these distractions can endanger you, your passengers, and others on the road. Remember, none of us are as good at driving as we think we are. Don't let one bad decision change your life forever. https://lnkd.in/eT8w9rXu

  • Each year, 2.2 million people are reported to have been poisoned globally. Across the United States, poison control centers handle 1 call every 13 seconds and answer more than 2.6 million calls yearly. To prevent these poisonings from happening to you or a loved one, parents, teachers, nurses, and everyone in the community should take measures to ensure that unintentional poisonings are being prevented. A few ways to prevent a poisoning from happening include placing household chemicals out of the reach of children, storing items in their original containers to avoid confusion, and reading product labels, including the recommended dosages on all products. Older adults should take special precautions to understand medication safety.   National Poison Prevention Week raises awareness of poison prevention nationwide during the third full week of March every year. The week is an opportunity to highlight the dangers of poisonings for people of all ages and promote community involvement in poisoning prevention.

  • Friday's Leadership Tip: Someone is always watching. This is so true! No matter what job you are doing, as a parent, friend, whatever. Someone is always watching. Most of our behaviors are learned from watching the people we look up to and want to be like. Lead by example, show them how its supposed to be done! Remember, if you have bad habits, they are going to pick them up most likely. If you are working unsafe, have negative attitude or treat people badly, most likely, they are going to see this and follow your lead. Don't let that happen. Do it right, lead them, work safe and have a positive attitude. Good leadership is contagious. Happy Friday!
